Why Knitwear?

Why Knitwear?

Knitwear is one of the main characters in the world of Adèle & Soleil, alongside Adèle and the sun.

At Adèle & Soleil, colour, pattern, material and feeling come together naturally. So do the different places and memories that shape the creative world.

Life in Southwest France brings with it the light of the Atlantic, the soft tones of sand, sun-faded colours and a certain sense of ease. Yet there is something in the creator’s Nordic roots that brings the mind, time and again, back to knitwear, wool and familiar patterns.

These two worlds are never truly separate in Adèle & Soleil. On one side, the light and colours that surround us now. On the other, something that has been with us for much longer.

And somewhere between the two, an Adèle & Soleil knit begins.

A colour may come from a place. A pattern from an old memory. Sometimes it all begins with the material and how we want the knit to feel.

Little by little, it becomes something new. Something that carries a little of where we come from and where we are now.

But there is something else in knitwear.

Warmth.

Not only the warmth that wool brings on a cold day. Softness, colour or a familiar pattern can also bring a little warmth to a grey morning or a rainy day.

And perhaps this is where the Adèle & Soleil sun can be found too.

Because Toujours le Soleil does not mean that every day has to be sunny.

It is the idea that we can all carry a little light with us, even when the sun is nowhere to be seen.

Toujours le Soleil.
